You are not a risk manager; you are a fortune teller

The following was written by Beaumont Vance and taken from Risk Management Reports (July 2007):

The next time someone at a cocktail party asks what you do for a living, say you increase profit through fortune telling. If nothing else, it will lead to a more interesting conversation than you would have if you replied, “I am a risk manager.” And if you think about it, the statement is actually true.
